THE CAST

PAT TWEED (Sister Mary Regina) is a true veteran of Oklahoma City theatre. She has appeared in over 25 Jewel Box productions such as Same Time, Next Year, Chicago, Mame and Steel Magnolias. Favorite Carpenter Square shows include Best Little Whorehouse..., Company and ..Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. A very special thanks to Jewel Box and its patrons for asking the Sisters of Hoboken back! FRANCENE THOMAS (Sister Mary Hubert) first
appeared on our stage as Bloody Mary in a benefit of
South Pacific, her first time on any stage, quickly followed
by this show as the original Sister Hubert in 1990. A 26-year police Service Technician, Francene is the Director of
the youth choir at the Greater Zion Baptist Church, and a
member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. |
HEATHER OLIVE (Sister Robert Anne) was associate
producer of the documentary “Beyond the Gates”, and
worked as associate producer on Behind the Scenes for
the film “End of the Spear.” She has appeared in our
productions of West Side Story, Follies and Annie Get Your
Gun, to name a few, and several Lyric productions.
Heather is Mom and wife to Stan, Dalton, and Payton. |
MARY FREEH (Sister Mary Amnesia) has designed
costumes for Jewel Box and most area theatres, colleges
and universities. She is a member of two professional
singing groups, The Sisters of Swing and The Back Row. An
8th grade teacher of music at Trinity School, she is also
Assistant Director of Music at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic
Church. Mary has the distinction of winning two Gem
Awards as Amnesia in both Nunsense and Nuncrackers. |
ALEX HALL (Sister Mary Leo) made her Jewel Box
debut as Laurey in Oklahoma! last season. At Poteet
Theatre she was Winnifred in Once Upon A Mattress and Nora in Carpenter Square’s Brighton Beach Memoirs. Alex would like to tell the cast, “It has been so much fun! Thank you, and I love you all!” The multi-talented Alex is the only new cast member to the convent and is welcomed ~ if she behaves. |
THE CREW
CHUCK TWEED (Director) has been Production Director
for 30 years. Boy, is he tired! He has 9 Best Play Gems (2
for Nunsense), and 3 Best Actor Awards. He was a
drama teacher for 27 years and has appeared with the
Oklahoma City Philharmonic for Yuletide with Susan
Powell and narrated Peter and the Wolf. He is also
Artistic Director of Summerstock in Edmond during the
summer. He is most appreciative for everyone who has
worked hard to help Jewel Box Theatre get to this
momentous anniversary! Bravo! (PS: I love these nuns!!) |
JAMES GORDON (Stage Manager) stage managed
the Gem Award-winning Tuesdays With Morrie as well
as last season’s Someone to Love. A past Volunteer of
the Year, he has been on stage in such shows as South
Pacific, 1776, Dames at Sea, The Sound of Music and
The Unsinkable Molly Brown. |
JANA HESTER (Props) heads both the season selection
committee and the Gem Awards banquet. She came to
Jewel Box in 1985 doing props for Chicago and has since directed or assistant directed with Chuck for many of his shows. Jana joined the theatre’s Board of Advisors in 1990 and serves on many committees. She is a recipient of the 1992 Mary Wilbur Backstage Award. |
| MARY FREEH, GARRETT JOHNSTON, FRANK YOUNGBLOOD (Costumes) The efforts of this tried-and-true trinity of tailors can be seen all over the country at Six Flags Amusement Parks and at Oklahoma City’s Frontier City, as well as costuming educational, regional, and community theatres in Oklahoma and Texas, memory quilts, dance recital costumes, altar clothes, and bridal party sewing. “As you sew, so shall you rip.” |
